Career & Achievements

1989年東京大学経済学部を卒業し、東京海上火災保険に入社。1995-1997年に会社派遣でシカゴ大学にMBA留学。留学後は、計18年間、商品開発と保険引受に従事し、日本と海外の各種の損害保険と再保険の引受けおよび保険と金融の融合商品（保険デリバティブ）の開発、リスクと資本政策の最適化などの業務を行った。

また、この間、２回、バミューダと英国の子会社に出向し、子会社のCEOやオフィサーとして、市場開拓を含む営業、事業開発、経営不振の子会社の経営再建などを成功させた。2015年、経営企画部にて、グループCEO直轄の長期戦略策定のプロジェクトチーム・リーダーを務め、2016年に新設したデジタル戦略部署の責任者となった。

2022年に東京海上ホールディングスのフェローに就任しCVC活動を統括。2025年4月から、（株）光通信グループの保険事業中間持ち株会社の執行役員、2026年4月からスマイル少額短期保険会社の取締役に就任。

社外活動としては、国内外の多数のデジタル関連のカンファレンスなどでスピーカーやパネリストを務めた他、日本CDOクラブ、一橋大フィンテック研究会などのメンバーとして活動し、米国ベンチャー企業の取締役会オブザーバーと米国ベンチャーキャピタルファンドのアドバイザリー・ボード・メンバーを務めた。

Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo in 1989 and joined Tokio Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. From 1995 to 1997, sponsored by the company, completed an MBA at the University of Chicago.

Following the MBA program, spent approximately 18 years in product development and underwriting, engaging in underwriting operations for a wide range of domestic and international non-life insurance and reinsurance businesses. Responsibilities also included the development of insurance-linked and financial risk solutions, including insurance linked derivatives, as well as risk and capital optimization initiatives.

During this period, was seconded twice to subsidiaries in Bermuda and the United Kingdom, serving as CEO and senior officer roles. Successfully led business development initiatives, market expansion efforts, and turnaround management for underperforming subsidiaries.

In 2015, served as Project Team Leader for a long-term strategic planning initiative directly supervised by the Group CEO within the Corporate Planning Department. In 2016, became Head of the newly established Digital Strategy Division.

Appointed Fellow of Tokio Marine Holdings in 2022, overseeing the group’s corporate venture capital (CVC) activities.

Since April 2025, serving as Executive Officer of the insurance intermediate holding company within the Hikari Tsushin Group. Since April 2026, serving as Director of Smile Small Amount and Short Term Insurance Company.

In external activities, has participated as a speaker and panelist at numerous domestic and international conferences related to digital transformation and insurance innovation. Also served as a member of organizations including the Japan CDO Club and the Hitotsubashi University FinTech Research Forum, as well as Board Observer for U.S. startup companies and Advisory Board Member for U.S. venture capital funds.
